David - Dottie Randall here. You called me years ago, and in a moment of sheer (and unusual) ditziness, I accidentally deleted your number. Apologies hereby tendered!
So, perhaps we are related? I saw my grandparents listed on the "tree" online, with your name and e-mail address as contact. I can tell you that my grandfather, Huntley Burnham Sigourney (think that's the correct spelling) Randall, died in San Antonio in about 1921, and is buried there. He and my grandmother, Nannie Harrison, were married in Monterrey, Mexico; I don't have the year handy, but can lay hands on it in a week or so. My grandfather was a graduate of the Minnesota School of Mines, and went to Mexico to work for my great-grandfather, and married the boss' daughter!
glad to see that I will live until 2222 - sounds like a long and fruitful life to me!
to the best of my knowledge, I am not related to Charles Randall, who lives a few blocks from me in San Antonio (I live on Charles Road...it's confusing...!)
anyway, should you wish to contact me again, here's my e-mail - you have my cell number.
  best to you
 Dottie

Cousin Dottie, good to hear from you. I had no clue at first as to how I might have contacted you, so I went into the tree and found that I had left a message on your answering machine back on 14 August 2003, about 10 am. It`s great to have such a system for helping out my memory.
Yes, we are fourth cousins, both descended from William Haight Leggett, 1789-1863.
I have been in contact some years ago with several other cousins, among them Corydon Chandler Randall, born 1935, also a fourth cousin to me, but much closer to you (second cousin). He lives in Michigan, where several of the sons of William Haight Leggett moved from NYC before the Civil War.
Yes, we are all going to live to 2222 in my world, so we have lots of time left!
  David

David - I'm back in San Antonio, and got around to scrounging in the storage place to find family information!
one picture which might interest you: it's a copy, but typed on the reverse is:
"On the back of original in hand of Anna Leggett Randall:
 Mother (Eliza Seaman Leggett)
 in another hand:
 "Miss Eliza Seaman"
what is she to you? since I haven't a "visual" I'm a bit at sea as to who is related to whom!
and as for Cory Randall, just today I found a letter he wrote to my father in 1986 - presumably Mother opened it, but by then Daddy had been gone for over 2 years, and she must not have had any interest in that side of the family. (we didn't know at the time that this branch of Randalls would end with me...) Do you think he'd mind corresponding with me? Apparently my grandfather, Huntley Burnham Segourney Randall, had a bunch of siblings! at least that's what I gleaned from a notebook I found today.
which brings me to this: I have a collection of stuff, including photos, a typed article on "Samuel Leggett and his historic gas-lighting experiment from GAS LOGIC, March 1919." Do you have that? there's also a crest with the names Randall, Burnham, Leggett, Seaman, Ferris, Wright, Scott, and Carter; photos of the Ferris home in Westchester County; a 3-generation photo copied from stereopticon, another one of Sojourner Truth - apparently my grandmother's grandmother sponsored and presented her in lectures! and there's more, including a letter from a mother who mentions leaving a silver trinket to "Huntley" and various other bequests (that's why I think he had siblings, a fact unknown to me until this afternoon!)
are you interested? I doubt much of it would scan, but if you'd like to see it, copy it, and send back...
  let me know, won't you?
 best!
 Dottie

Dottie--Eliza Seaman married my gg grand uncle Augustus Wright Leggett, 1816-1885 in 1836.
I am copying two other cousins on this email, for reasons which will become apparent as you scroll down…I know from past experience that they shouldn`t be too bothered by this.
I have three pix of Elizabeth (don`t believe any are originals) maybe matches what you have:
  [three jpgs pasted in]
Yes, I have the GAS LOGIC article, in original, I think. Here is the e-copy:
  GAS LOGIC
A MONTHLY JOURNAL OF ENLIGHTENMENT AND PROGRESS
Vol. XXV MARCH, 1919 No. 3 [pp. 1-4, copyright 1919, Robert E. Livingston]
96th Year of Gas in New York City
  [text omitted for this entry]
I know Elizabeth Seaman`s mother was Anna Ferris, and if you go into my website, you can see descriptions of a lot of these people, as Elizabeth wrote a lot of letters about them, and I have them all posted. Below you can see email from another cousin, who I assume by now has made contact with Cory Randall. I am sure some of those photos are new to me. Don`t think I`ve ever seen any of the Ferris house in Westchester.
I was just looking at your entry in my tree…your mother was Joan S (maiden name unknown to me)., 25 July 1918,-12 June 1991, right?

Dottieyou got all I sent; the illustrations of the GAS LOGIC article are merely described in my version.
That third pic is a cropped version of one that shows her standing.
I`ve made the changes for your mum and grandfather.
Thanks, you needn`t trouble yourself to send me your stuff. I have a lot of stuff here I haven`t gotten to, stuff still sitting since I salvaged it from my cousin`s house after her death in 2003. I also recently received some Leggett stuff a clergyman received back in the 1970s by will from a parishioner who had no descendants. He passed it to his daughter, and her husband recently sent it to me. Quite a sense of duty there. Unfortunately, many of the photos are unlabeled. Many show the interior of a house somewhere which may no longer exist, and I`ll never know where it was or is anyway. Moral of the story: Be sure you label as much as you can! But there is some written family genealogy, which I will have to see if I can add it to my database.

David - thanks! unfortunately the illustrations didn't come through; no matter!
yes, the picture of Elizabeth I have is the third one in your "triptych," but I also have an informal photo of her with other family members, as well as pictures from the farm and its furnishings...
my mother's maiden name was Shea, and her dates are correct. my grandfather's DOD was July 7, 1921.
so, would you like for me to send you my accumulation of stuff (which someone did for my grandmother) for your amusement? I'd be glad to, if you'd return it to me at some point!

Oh, and as I recall you are Dorothy S., no doubt S for Shea? Or it could be Sejourney. Do you know where that latter name comes from? The info I have does not give me a clue.

yes, I'm Dorothy Shea Randall (named for maternal grandmother) - know absolutely nothing about Segourney, sorry! well, to be totally honest, I don't know jack about any of my father's family! HBS Randall (my grandfather) died when my father was 3, so he knew nothing, and my guess is that my grandmother was so busy trying to raise a son alone in Texas in the 20's and 30's that she didn't have much (if anything) to do with her in-laws, whom I suppose were in Michigan somewhere!
