Gabriel Leggett and Isaac Leggett were brothers, and were pioneers before the Revolutionary war. Gabriel's homestead was the present place of George Weston and Isaac, in the same neighborhood. It is understood that the old Salisbury place, north of Wilbur's ravine, was the original property of Thomas Leggett, whose name appears on the assessment-roll of 1789, marked "York,"-meaning, it is supposed, resident in New York. That home is a venerable relic of old times.

Indeed, all three, Gabriel, Isaac and Thomas, were brothers, and were in Upstate New York prior to the Revolution, but only Gabriel and Isaac were permanently there. Thomas maintained his residence in Westchester County.

Isaac Leggett, the oldest person in the town of Morris, died late Wednesday afternoon at the great age of ninety-eight years, and five months, at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Curtis Draper. Mr. Leggett with his daughter, Mrs. Sutherland, moved to Mr. Drapers a year ago so that Mrs. Draper could help care for her father. He retained his faculties until that time since which he has just kept growing weaker and weaker. He leaves beside the two daughters, two sons, Benjamin of New York Mills and William of Michigan. His wife died five years ago. He belonged to one of the old families of Friends. The funeral was held at the house on Saturday with burial in the Friends burial grounds beside his wife.
