  Thanks, Dennis.
  Hello Dot and Bob,
I live in Arlington, Virginia, and am the keeper of the family tree of
the Gabriel Leggett family of NYC. For a couple of years now, I have
had the clue of a George Leggett whose SSN was issued in NY, but whose
last residence was Gulfport. The Leggett name is not all that uncommon
in Mississippi, but would generally derive from a family of no provable
relation, originally settling around the VA/NC line.
After I emailed the Little Theatre, I was able to locate George's
obituary, which confirms for me that I have the right man, my 4th cousin
once removed. I was pleased to find that I have two 5th cousins also.
These would be my closest living relatives to bear the Leggett name,
outside of my father and sons. We are all descended from Thomas Leggett
 (1755-1843) of NYC.
I have since located William "Bill" in Slidell, but only got an
answering machine when I called him yesterday afternoon. As of yet I
find no listing for Tad, whose name I have realized is actually George
 B. III.
I like to include more than just names and dates in my tree, and was
interested to read about George's involvement with the theatre.
Although I am six years too late to talk to him myself, I wonder if
either of you might have any recollections to share? I see his wife,
 Dorothy, died back in 1987.

  REPLY:
From your description, it certainly sounds like one and the same. Mr.
George Leggett was a highly respected and deeply devoted supporter of
 the
Gulfport Little Theater. I knew him for about six years or so before he
died. "Mr George" has a legion of surviving friends.
Permit me to suggest that you contact Mr. Bob Daniels and J. Warren
McDaniel's widow, Dot McDaniel. They can provide first-hand and
 personal
accounts of "Mr. George" and his many contributions to GLT.
E-mail address: "retpenpal@aol.com" for Bob Daniels, and
 dottieemc@cableone.net for Dot McDaniel.
There is no doubt you will learn a lot about your late cousin.

  Hello, David-
Thanks a lot for the email ! My father had a family tree that I had seen some years ago (which went way back to pre-Colonial days in England, but no telling where it is now. I received this email at my work, so I forwarded it to my home email, and I'll respond when I have the chance. Again, many thanks and have a good holiday season.

 Subject: Hello Cousin Bill
I'm trying all the emails Dot gave me. I was sorry to learn of your brother's premature death. I knew I'd be too late to talk to your father, but thought I could catch Tad. Did he leave any surviving family?
I have tried twice, once yesterday afternoon and once early this morning, calling you at 985-643-7534, but only got the answering machine.
I don't know how interested you are in the Leggett heritage. Below I have pasted two family trees. The first one begins with your great grandfather, Clarence. I assume the "B" in the string of George B.s in your line stands for Burwell. Seems to have been a name people want to carry on. Perhaps you know of your Dodd cousins in Australia?
The second tree contains all the people in the first one, but goes back two more generations. Your gg grandfather Samuel is buried a short distance from our Leggett family plot in Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx. His father, Samuel, is buried at the Flushing Quaker Meeting House in Queens. This old meeting house still stands, and was where Samuel's father, Thomas, our common ancestor, was married on 6 May 1781.
As I told Dot below, you are my closest living blood relative to bear the Leggett name, and I'd like to fill in some of the blanks in your line. Hope to hear from you soon.

I don't know about this one, since it's a little busy, but it's always sort of appealed to me so I figured I'd share it. I took this earlier this year, on a work retreat at a resort in Galena, Illinois, of all places ;-). I was waiting for a train to come when I set this up, but one never came. This is a very wide angle shot, tripod set up very close to the sign (just a few feet away).

Uh huh. Definitely a slice of Americana, Brian. I grew up living on East Railroad St in Gulfport, and the crossed crossing sign brings back fond memories of my childhood. The angle of the sun was PERFECTLY aligned with the tracks, which shows the structure of the bridge nicely. While not exactly a pastoral scene, it does have appeal.

Incredible scene, Paul. The layering is superb, as is the saturation. I'm convinced that the Coolpix is the way to go for digital, if I ever go that way.

Excellent action shot! Great expressive pose of the one on the left. Nice to catch the liveliness of the birds alongside the tumult of the falls. BTW, those are the Great blue heron, which are quite common down my way, but in most cases difficult for me to photograph. They don't seem to tolerate my presence.
