Notes
a. Note:   ren. No children are mentioned in Oscar's 1916 obituary. Just who the parents of this set of three children might be remains to be seen. They remain in the database pending further research. Further research has quickly shown (just a few minutes after the above determination was made!) that these three children are actually those of Alvin Hedden Whitehead and Julia Coles Leggett. Earl Leggett was incorrect, but close. The children actually belong to Oscar's sister, Julia. 19 Nov 2002

At 511 Grand, Lansing. Obviously the same man as in the 1900 Census. (Father born Michigan, mother, N. Y.) He is still single, a retail grocer, a roomer at 108 Kalamazoo St. E., probably a hotel. It is possible for him to have married and had two sons before dying in 1916, as Earl recounts...

Not found in the 1920 or 1930 Censuses, so he may well have died in 1916. The year is the same as the death of Oscar Leggett, so I thought that perhaps Earl might have mixed it up, as he did with some of the children of Oscar's sister, assigning them to Oscar instead.

Now wondering where the 23 Nov death date came from? 29 July 2011
