Note: ren. No children are mentioned in Oscar's 1916 obituary. Just who the parents of this set of three children might be remains to be seen. They remain in the database pending further research. Further research has quickly shown (just a few minutes after the above determination was made!) that these three children are actually those of Alvin Hedden Whitehead and Julia Coles Leggett. Earl Leggett was incorrect, but close. The children actually belong to Oscar's sister, Julia. 19 Nov 2002

The inability to find these folks leads me to believe that Earl may have garbled the name...
The 1910 Census shows no Gofill of any kind, 13 Jan 2002.
No John Gofill found in 1920 Census. Soundex returns to many "Gables" etc. over 400 hits. Deborah has no returns.
Same with 1930 Census, 13 Jan 2003.
