Note: Obituary, Madison Co KY: At his home in this place on Thursday, March 5th, 1885, John R. Graham, died at age 81. Following his father's death in 1855, he sold his inheritance to Thomas H. Hanks. This was 1/6 of all the land, slaves and personal effects of Enoch Graham. The sale was recorded Dec 15, 1855 and recorded in Deed Book 30, pages 259-260. (Source Lyndon Irwin) The Woods Family Bible that gives the birth dates of Enoch's Family says: "John R. Graham born June 30, 1805 (Robert - Uncle Jack)" The Rogers Family of Paint Lick also says p214: "Rebecca White wrote that, The children from his first wife disowned him when he married Nancy, who was much younger than he. Story says that the children (of the first marriage) would have nothing to do with their father after the marriage. Betty Kaiser, who descends from the first marriage wrote that her great grandmother Mary Elizabeth Graham Noe, Polly harboring deep resentment all of her life against her father's second wife. Enoch 'Babe' Forsythe told a tale that had Nancy J. Graham driving up to their house in Louisville in a car 'as long as a nickel's worth of thread'. Polly Noe was living with the Forsythe's at that time but would not come downstairs to even say hello." Tax Records for John R.
