Notes
a. Note:   George, Jr. came to America with his parents from Dreispitz, Russia, in 1892, at the age of 7. The ship "SS Rhein" left from Bremen, Germany on May 28, 1892 and ported at New York on June 10, 1892. After coming to America, they settled near Dorrance, Kansas. Shortly after settling, they moved near Ellinwood, Kansas.
After George and Mollie were married, they lived near Ellinwood, Kansas.
Information from a naturalization record in Barton County, Kansas on February 6, 1918 states that George Jr. had a dark complexion, brown hair and brown eyes, and weighed 155 pounds.
George, Jr.'s parents and sisters and brothers all suffered from influenza at the same time. George Jr., and Fred were doing most of the farm work, since everyone else was too sick. Evidently they worked themselves too hard, because they became more sick than the rest of the family. They were the only two, within their immediate family, to die from the disease during the 1918-1919 flu epidemic.
George and Mollie's gravestone is spelled G-a-l-l-i-a-r-d because of a mistake and then an extremely reduced price.

 GEORGE ADAM GALLIART, JR.
George Galliart, Jr., who died at his home east of Ellinwood, Kansas, Friday, March 28, 1919, at 12:20 a.m., after several days illness of influenza, was born in Russia, August 11, 1884, and was 34 years, 8* months and 17 days of age at the time of his death. He was but a small boy when he came with his parents to America and the family located in Kansas, first at Dorrance and then at Ellinwood where they have resided east of town for many years and where George, Jr., grew to manhood in this community. On February 1, 1907, he was united in marriage to Miss Mollie Wollert and to this union eight children were born, three dying in infancy and five children surviving, the dear wife and mother, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Galliart, Sr., two sisters, Miss Marie and Miss Milly Galliart, and three brothers, Dan** and Reinhardt*** Galliart of Ellinwood, and Adam Galliart of Larned, besides a large circle of relatives and friends. George, Jr., who was known and liked by all, was a fine, manly, upright man, who was a good, kind and loving husband and father, and was one of our progressive young farmers of the north side.
It is extremely sad for this estimable family, wife and children as the death of George Galliart, Jr., followed only a few days after their son, Fred, had succumbed the dreaded epidemic of which the entire family was afflicted at the same time, and all possible that loving care and hands could do, was done, but to no avail and death ended his suffering. The two deaths within one week has left untold grief and sorrow in this home and words and pen fail us in trying to comfort the stricken family who must feel like a wrecked ship tossed upon a stormy sea. George, Jr., was a devout Christian and may the family find consolation that some day they will all be united in the heavenly home above.
Funeral services were held from the family home of George Galliart, Sr., at 1:30 o'clock and from the Lutheran Church, Monday, March 31, 1919 at 2:30 p.m. Rev. Theodore Meyer delivering a beautiful sermon over the deceased and the remains were tenderly laid to rest in the Ellinwood cemetery. The entire community sincerely extend to this bereaved family their heartfelt sympathy.
