Notes

Note: Bert Hewes states that his father worked at a local grain mill in Vici. The mill was near the train tracks and those who jumped on rail cars would get off at Vici. William had a standing account at the local drug store and diner. He would send these persons down to the drug store with a note, to get themselves a hamburger and cup of coffee. Bert also states that his mother was the same way, "never turning away anyone in need".
