Notes
a. Note:   James is recorded in military records as James A. Weekley. The family remembers that there was already a James O. Weekley in the Union Army so they gave him the initial A. He was an officer in the cavalry. The "A" is used in the L. E. Alley, Sr. family Bible. So, it would appear that he continued to use the initial "A". In support of this story that the family remembered, the 1860 census records him as "James F". The census taker must have under stood his name to be "Filo" when they told him Ophilo. His grave stone is James A Weekley. Birth records of the first children indicate he lived in WV for a short while around 1870 and went back to Ohio in 1871 at the birth of James, returning to WV in 1872 and stayed there. He was not found in the 1870 census.
He worked as a Farmer and a coal miner. Died of cancer. (from Alley family records).
