a. Note:   All census records of Harriet list her birth place in VA. Thomas's death record lists Harriet's birth as PA. The 1850 census lists her as insane, but she is not listed as such in 1860 or 1870. The 1870 census lists Harriet's father and mother of foreign birth. Davis is almost exclusively an Irish name, looking at the 1850 census. Thus, it is save to assume that the foreign birth of Harriet's parents is Ireland.
