Note: The only Charles Lilly in VA in the 1830 or 1840 census is in Washington Co. both years. Since Mary Elizabeth's father was not alive in the spring of 1840 when she was married this is not him. William (and Elizabeth) Lilly's family is one choice in 1830 in the Augusta Co. (and Rockbridge Co.) area with a girl the age of Mary Elizabeth. William (and Catherine) Lilly also in Augusta Co. have a girl the age of Mary Elizabeth. Abby in 1820 also has a girl the right age. I believe she is Charles' widow. The location of John, Lindsey and William's families makes me believe they and Charles are brothers. The children's names reinforce this belief.
