Simeon, Benjamin, and John Smalley are listed in Franklin Twp. Greene Co. PA in 1830. They are young enough to be children of Jonas. In 1840 they are in Meigs Co., Ohio; Benjamin is in Lebanon, and the other two in Olive. Several other older Smalleys are in Greene Co. in the early 1800s. But, the ages of their children (except Nathaniel - see below) do not match Simeon, Benjamin, and John. They only match the family of Jonas. James, only found in 1830, is the only other Smalley there in 1830 and the right age to be a son. There can only be 3 sons and I did not chose him because the other 3 went to OH. This is not proof, just good circumstantial evidence.
Greene Co., PA census records from 1800 to 1830 show that Jonas had two sons born between 1800 and 1810. Land and court records indicate that an older Benjamin Smalley had a son Nathaniel. 1810 census shows Nathaniel with a son the same age, but the son is not listed in 1820. Benjamin S. Smalley was only about 14 in 1820 and a little young to be living elsewhere. The repeat of the name Benjamin is the only evidence that Benjamin S. is the son of Nathaniel. He could be the son of Nathaniel or of Jonas. Benjamin S. married Hester Sidwell. Her sister Rebecca married John Smalley. I have chosen to list Benjamin as a son of Jonas only because I believe that evidence is stronger, but it is only speculation. There is appearently no proof. Clifford Canfield at the Greene County, PA Historical Society spent a liftime trying to figure out this Smalley family. He never found the total proof answer.
