Notes
a. Note:   "Grandmother Chenoweth (JoAnna Donegia) was born in W. Virginia. Her dad (Frank Donegia) was born in Naples Italy. When I called Warren (Chenoweth) (a son) for more information he said he wasn't telling anything that Beverly had found out, for the rest of the family disputed it." --Mary Spitzer Chatham in a letter (no date) but believed to have been written in 1990-91 when Ben or Sarah Chatham were doing a family history in Middle school at Grand Rapids, MN. (GMC)
THE SPRINGFIELD HERALD: (June 15, 1906)

Dr. Milligan was in attendance all of yesterday morning but could offer no hope of recovery or a long lease of life. Mrs. Chenoweth was liked by all who knew her. She was a loving mother and faithful wife. Her remains will be laid beside those of two children who have gone on before tomorrow. Rev. Morris will conduct the funeral service at the house at ten o'clock.

Johanna Donegia was born May 27, 1857, in Barber county, West Virginia, and died in the early morning of June 15th, 1906. She spent her earlier life in Barber county, W. Va., where, when only a girl of 15 years, she was converted to God and united with the Methodist Episcopal Church South. She always tried to live a consistent Christian life.
On Jan. 10th, 1877 she married Daniel Chenoweth. To them were born ten children, four girls and six boys, three dying in early life. The husband and seven children, Chas., Birdie C., Ira, Floyd, Truman, Emma and Ethel, are left to mourn the loss of a devoted wife and mother.

The funeral last Saturday was largely attended.
