  ???? unsure
Sure. From John and Catherine, we have their son John Ferguson. From stories passed down we've been told that he left his family in Canada and went to work for a while on an Uncle's fishing boat in one of the Great Lakes. Eventually going to Niagara County, New York and he married Mary Ann Knapp.
From John and Mary's children came my Great-Grandfather, Peter Ferguson. Peter was born in Niagara County, New York. He lived there until he was 5 years old and at that time the family moved to Genessee County, Michigan. They lived in Michigan for about 16 years and then moved West to Dakota Territory. John Ferguson and Mary Knapp bought a homestead near DeSmet, South Dakota, and so did their son, Peter.
This is how my Great-Grandfather, Peter, got his land in South Dakota. He arrived there in 1885. Peter married Elizabeth Brown. Peter's original homestead still belongs to our family today. It's been passed down to his sons and their sons.
And Peter's youngest daughter was Verlus who passed away last week atthe age of 95.
John Ferguson (John & Catherine's son) passed away in South Dakota. His homestead was sold. His wife, Mary Ann Knapp, went to stay with oneof her sons who had bought a farm in Spooner, Wisconsin. One day while her son was in town, a robber broke into the farm and took their money and beat up Mary. When her son came home he found her, but she died a few hours later, so she is not buried with John in South Dakota. She is buried in Spooner, Wisconsin.
Peter and Elizabeth are buried next to John Ferguson in South Dakota.Peter and Elizabeth knew the Ingalls Family. If you've ever heard of those books "Little House on the Prairie" by Laura Ingalls Wilder. When Peter and Elizabeth got older, they bought the Ingalls house and moved closer in town. After Peter and Elizabeth died, our family sold the house to the Laura Ingalls Wilder Society so it's a museum now. My Mom was born in South Dakota and she used to stay in that house with her Grandma when she was little. And Verlus Ferguson who passed away was my Mom's Aunt. Verlus had a brother named George and George is my Grandpa.
