Note: married as Hartwell. Died age 19 Wesleyan Methodist Church, Stanstead. Stanstead Journal Feb 1871 An inquest on the body of the wife of F. Bean of Barnston, named Hartley who was supposed to have died from injuries received by a brutal assault committed upon her about Christmas by two men named Carr and Bean. Doctors Meigs and Paget made a post mortem examination and were under the opinion that she died of erysipelas of a typhoid nature and there were no marks of violence on her. However, the jury determined her death was caused by the ill treatment of Carr and Bean and the parties were arrested.
