She was named after her Aunt Callie Frances Smith Yeatts.
  -----------------------------------------------------
Fannie in 1910 Pittsylvania Co., VA with parents.
  -----------------------------------------------------
Brothers Irvin and Dick Hedrick married sisters Estelle and Frances Smith.
  -----------------------------------------------------
Frances was a very stately and elegant woman. She would command a room just by entering it. She was much loved by the community, heading charitable endeavors. Sadly she lost a battle with stomach cancer. Over 300 people attended her funeral.
It was said that Fannie was not a very warm and caring personality, but had a very good heart.
Frances was a staunch christian. She believed God would heal her cancer, so she refused medical treatment. It killed her.
  -----------------------------------------------------
Frances never drove an automobile. Coming from a wealthy family, it was beneath her.
She preferred walking about the community.
  -----------------------------------------------------
She had two sets of monogramed sterling silver flatwear in an intricate rose floral pattern. One set was monogramed with "H" for Hedrick and the other set monogramed with "S" for Smith. The sets even had baby spoons, which were favorites of me and my sister at my grandmothers house, our names being Hank and Stephanie.

City Mourns Death Of Beloved Woman Mrs. J.R. Hedrick
Hundreds Pay Tribute At Community Chapel Where Rites Are Held
The passing Friday night of Mrs. J.R. Hedrick, while not unexpected, brought grief to the city of Lanett, where this esteemed woman had wrought her good works for more than 30 years, serving as Good Samaritan to the needy, and as Christian friend and neighbor to all who came under her inspiring influence.
Services were held Sunday from the Community Chapel Church of God, the Rev. J. Alex Adams, her pastor, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Mr. Thompson, of LaGrange, the church overflowing with friends who came to mourn and pay tribute to one who had fought the good fight nobly and who had finished the race well.
Born in Swansville, Va., Mrs. Hedrick, 58 years old, moved with her husband to Lanett in 1912. She was one of the most loyal, devoted and active members of the Community Chapel Church of God, but her good deeds of Christian service knew no bounds of creed or color. She had been in failing health for two years, and seriously ill since last November.
In paying tribute to her, her pastor said: "In the course of years she held a number of prominent positions in her church, being especially interested in home and foreign missions.
"Her Christian associates and friends highly respected her devotion and loyalty to The Kingdom. She was faithful in visiting the shut-ins, the sick, and the needy. Her garden of flowers furnished silent messages that were being carried continuously to the homes of the sick. Many times she answered the call to the needy and went, frequently unsolicited, to assist them. She preached her own funeral sermon by her daily life; she died as she had lived, a strong, devout Christian woman, who will be sorely missed by the entire city and by all who knew her."
Mrs. Hedrick is survived by her husband, and one daughter, Mrs. Harvey Sharpe, of White Plains; two grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. M.E. Cook, Durham, N.C.; Mrs. Robert Reynolds, Callands, Va.; and Mrs. Irvin Hedrick, Museville, Va.; six brothers, Clifton Smith, Lakeland, Fla.; S.D. Smith, Dearborn, Mich.; Charlie and Irvin Smith, Callands, Va.; and Harry Smith, Danville, Va.
Pallbearers were Alfred McClure, Herman Ragsdale, R.J. Jennings, J.A. Bone, J.C. Grady, and Hugh Knowles.
Corrections: Mrs. Harvey Sharpe should be Mrs. Harvey Sharp
