Oct. 17, 2012 Mrs. Foster - Mrs. Nell Foster, 101, of LaFayette, died Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at LaFayette Nursing Home. Funeral services were held Thursday, October 11, 2012 at Jeff Jones Funeral Home at 2 p.m. with Rev. Bill Hand officiating. Burial followed in Oakwood Cemetery in Lanett. Survivors include three children, Faye (Randy) Bowling, LaFayette; Ronald C. (Carolyn) Foster, Albany, GA; Betty (Tim) Mitchell, Shorter, AL; three sisters, Reba Price, Centre, AL; Grace Hammock, Alpharetta, GA; Mary Ann Carter, LaFayette; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel T. Foster and three brothers and three sisters. Mrs. Foster was born on May 27, 1911 in White Plains, AL to Hershel Sharp and Lillian (McJunkin) Sharpe. She graduated from Five Points High and married in 1932. She then became a loving, devoted wife and mother, putting family first. She was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord and spent her life in service to others. She was a member of LaFayette First Baptist Church. Over the years Mrs. Foster was employed with Fairfax Mill, Lanett Mill, Singer Sewing (Pensacola, FL), Spence Dry Goods, and Sam`s Country Store. She loved to stay active in her community by participating in Home Demonstration Club. She was a talented seamstress, avid gardener, an accomplished pianist and taught music for many years. She played the piano for many churches and at the LaFayette Nursing Home until the week she passed away. She was a wonderful cook and homemaker, taught Sunday School and led children`s choir. She led by example and has left an amazing legacy to her family.
