Graveside services for Janet Cofield, 86, of Beulah will be Monday, Dec. 30, 2002, at 11 a.m. CST. Burial will be at Beulah Baptist Cemetery. The Rev. Jim Dykes will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday, Dec. 29 from 5 to 7 p.m. CST at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral home.
Mrs. Cofield, who died Saturday, Dec. 28, 2002 in Opelika, was born March 12, 1916, in Chambers County. She was a native of LaFayette and had been a resident of Beulah for the past 58 years. She was the manager and co-owner of Cofield's Restaurant in Beulah for 25 years and a member of Beulah Baptist Church. Following retirement, she worked at Barnes' Restaurant for a number of years and was also manager of the Senior Citizens Center at the Beulah Community center.
She was preceded in death by her husband, W.K. Cofield in 1974. She is survived by one son, Kenny Cofield of Beulah; five sisters, Nell Foster and Mary Ann Carter, both of LaFayette, Grace Hammock of Milltown, Gladys Yarbrough of Roanoke and Reba Price of Piedmont; one brother, Marion Sharp of Dallas, Texas; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
