  1926/??/?? When Arthur Shaw's business closed, Eliza moved south to find work / stay with Aunt Maggie Richens (nee Donnelly). Spent first night in Slough in the Old Police Station cells, since she couldn't find her aunt's house nearby. In later life, there was a suggestion that she had pawned George Audsley's gold watch to pay for the rail fare, but this is not consistent with having contacted the police on arrival at Slough. She sent money home regularly to her mother.

Train to Amiens, but train stopped and started, arriving at Gare du Nord Paris. Free return trip to Amiens, then onto Albert and stayed at Hotel opposite the Madeleine church. Next day, walked to Thiepval and taxied to Lesboeufs, where Eliza visited the cemetery. Taxi Driver was an old FWW soldier who came from Hammersmith. Next day, train to Gare du Nord, then around the Eiffel Tower, Arc du Triomphe and Notre Dame before returning.
