  Thomas Arthur Raymond Cairns / Ernest Raymond Puttock (1923-2000)
 ============================================================
 Born Ernest Raymond Puttock in Ripley, Surrey
  Other May 27 births:
 1911: Vincent Price was born in St Louis, Missouri, USA
 1922: Christopher Lee was born in Belgravia, London
 1923: Henry Alfred Kissinger was born in Fuerth, Germany;
  6ft 3ins at tallest.
  Theresa Edith Stonard (nee Cairns) was working in service in Pyrford, Surrey, at the time of TARC's birth. She said that her sister, Rose, and her mother ran a fruit barrow around Ripley. They came across Lucy Puttock. It was said that TARC was delivered to the Cairns family by motorcycle. However, Pat / Theresa, Rose's daughter, said that Lucy Puttock regularly came to 4 Smallholdings to assist Mrs Cairns, who had failing eyesight.
  Before Lucy's marriage during the SWW, it is believed that she knew one of the Erricker brothers (of whom there were 4 in Dunsfold), Alan Payne (later to own a knitwear factory in Godalming) and Archie Sparks. In the light of subsequent DNA evidence, she clearly also knew Eric Horatio Boxall, who had lost an older brother in the FWW. She named their son Ernest Raymond (Puttock) - probably after the FWW author, who wrote so movingly about life in the trenches.
  1923/09/16 Baptised Thomas Arthur Raymond Cairns at St Mary's Church, Ripley, Surrey, with annotation 'Legally Adopted'.
