  FROM RALPH SCHWALM IN PA.
In July 1853 Jonathan bought 16 acres, 80 perches in Wayne Township (now in Washington Township) from Paul Lengel and his wife Maria. Jonathan sold this to Jacob Hains of Tremont Township on March 6, 1865. Hains owned this until 1869 when the Sheriff sold it to Levi Miller as the result of a lawsuit- "Jonathan Zerbe vs. Jacob Hains". In 1870 Miller sold it to Isreal Herring, who died a few years later.
In that deed his residence is still given as Washington Township. He apparently left soon after selling this, for on August 31st of the same year he and Catherine, along with some others gave power of attorney to Conrad Richards/Reichert of Washinton Township to settle their interest in the estate of John William Emrich, Catherine's Father. On that date, their residence was given as Cedar County, Iowa. The others who signed this were Henry Emrich and his wife, Mary and Lydia Richards/Reichert and her husband, Josiah or Joseph. Henry and Lydia were also children of John William Emrich.
