Notes
a. Note:   Mr. and Mrs. Edmunds who at that time lived near Burford, and whose English home was at Norton, near Stock-under-ham. They apparently found employment at their chosen trades, William as a miller at Milldale, and George as a blacksmith at Troy Ontario.
Approximately a year later their parents, James and Meriah (Sanford) Buckrell, with five other children, survived the ordeal of a thirteen week crosing of the stormy Atlantic in a sailing vessel. Looking south-west toward their eldest son William, they came to the Norwich district. James Buckrell following his trade as a blacksmith, opened his shop on a lot at the south-east corner of the intersection two miles west of the village, and across the road from the William Stover farm.
George Buckrell married Sophrona Lee of Dundas, Ontario and they established their home in Troy. A few years later (1873) they moved to Stanton, Michigan where George set up a black-smith shop. They had three daughters, two born at Troy and the third in Stanton.
George settled near Troy, married Sophrona Lee in 1860 at Dumfries Ontario. There, three girls were born to them, Temperance Lavina in 1861, Jane Anzonetie in 1863, Lillie May in 1871. James and Meriah spent their last days with George and his family, until their death in September 1866. George and Sophronia then moved to Flint, Michigan. Mention was made of a home east of Entricin and his shop on the corner. Interesting stories about their lives were written in these obituries. George Buckrell died at the age of 61 years, May 25, 1899. Deceased had been in poor health for several months, but was thought to be improving. He was able to be downtown last saturday, but on Monday was taken with violent pain in his side and it became evident he could not recover. Mr. Buckrell was born in England but for the past 27 years he has been a resident of this county. He settled in Douglass Township and ws Supervisor of that township for six years. About 10 years ago he moved to this city, (Stanton, Michigan) and engaged in the blacksmithing business. An upright man and a good citizen, he was honored with various positions of trust and convidence by his fellow townsmen of this city. He was an active member of the Methodist church of this city, and will be greatly missed by his co-workers in that society. He was a man of sterling integrity, faithful in the discharge of every duty that devolved upon him and in every respect an honored citizen. He had been married thirty-seven years, and besides a devoted wife leaves three married daughters. Mrs. Dr. Binham, of Grand Rapids, Mrs. Dr. Gamber of Stanton, and Mrs. Francis Palmer of McBride.
Note:   {geni:about_me} In the year 1855, William Buckrell aged 23 years and his brother George aged 18 years of Stock-under-ham, Somerset England, sailed from Bristol to North America. They found their way to the home of family friends,
