Note: {geni:about_me} Obituary Sophronia Lee, better known to us as Mrs. George Buckrell, was born at Beverly, Ont., July 27, 1839. At the age of twenty-one years she was united in marriage to George Buckrell at Dumfries, Ont., remaining in that province until about fifty years ago when she with her husband and family moved to this country, settling on an improved farm in Douglass township, which through united effort and many hardships, incident to pioneer life, was improved and made comfortable.
In 1890 the family moved to this city where they remained until the death of her husband May 25, 1899 Three daughters came to bless and meke happy the home, viz: Vena Bigham, Nettie Palmer and Lillie Gamber. Shortly after the death of her husband Mrs. Buckrell made her home with her daughters. About two years ago she came to this city with her two daughters where she remained until her death June 18, 1923, aged 83 years, 11 months and 21 days.
She was a true and faithful worker in the church, liberal in her contributions. Her chosen place of worship and membership was with the Methodist Episcopal church, her church home for nearly her entire life. 1894 Census has George and Sophrona as residents of Stanton, Michigan.
