Note: he pastor. Interment was made in the Brisco cemetery. Friends and neighbors extend their sympathy to the bereaved in this sad hour. Laura Elkins Reed was born Jan 15, 1821, in Cincinnati Ohio, died March 14. 1898 at her home in Rainsville The funeral was conducted by Rev. J. J. Thompson assisted by Rev. White, Wednesday at 10 o'clock from the M .E .church, after which kind hands tenderly laid to rest all that was mortal in the Brisco cemetery. She was married to Wm. H. Reed March 29. 1846. To them were born eleven children : James; Harriet E. (deceased); John W.; George E.; William E.; Everett D.; Hugh McCharles (deceased); Mary A.; Emma C.; who together with the aged husband are left to mourn her loss. She leaves also 24 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She was a member of the M. E. church for the past thirty years and died in full faith and assurance of a reward in heaven and a home made beautiful through the Saviour's love. Her parting words, "It is best" will be as a watch word to those bereaved. Her life was full of good works for her home and loved ones. The things she loved in this life were the good and true, she was a faithful wife—faithful in even the smallest duties, and as the sons gather around their mother with sorrowful faces and the falling of tears, this told us more than words could have done that she was a loving, gentle mother and had lived close to her children in thought and mother-love. In her bible we find her favorite passages of scripture marked, and they were each a beautiful promise, which showed her life was rich with good thoughts. We placed the beautiful blossoms of earth in her hands, but she gathers flowers, fadeless in a fairer world." - Williamsport Review, Williamsport, Indiana, March 18, 1898
