Notes
a. Note:   rgan County created 1807. However, Richmond County contained the area which would later be formed into Lincoln County. Andrew Hawk is known to have been living on a farm outside Augusta, in Richmond County, 4 Nov 1789. Rebecca* died December 18, 1875 Morgan County, Georgia, at 88 years of age.(46) She* was buried December 1875 Morgan County, Georgia, Malcom Cemetery.(47) She* married Ganaway Malcom* Morgan County, Georgia, October 30, 1814.(48) VRI lists name as Rebecah Hawk. Letters of adm on William Hawk estate list name as Rebeckah Hawk. Ganaway* was born in Buckingham, Buckingham County, Virginia 1780.(49) Ganaway* was the son of James Malcom Sr. and Nancy Sarah Gannaway. Ganaway* died January 1, 1838 in Walton County, Georgia, at 57 years of age.(50) He* was buried January 1838 Georgia, Malcom Family Cemetery. Ganaway was a planter in Morgan County, Georgia, and resided near Rock Springs Baptist Church. Note that there is conflicting evidence on whether Rebecca Hawk was the daughter of William Hawk, or his wife (or even possibly his sister). At least one leading researcher believes William's wife at the time of his death in 1814 was Rebecca Whatley, daughter of Ornan Whatley {Sr.} and Judith Thornton. There is no solid evidence for either scenario. However, William Hawk's estate lists some significant notes due from Ornan Whatley. And one of Hillsman's children is named Thornton. However, Hillsman's name itself is clear evidence of a Hillsman in the line. The 1860 census for Fairplay, Morgan County, Georgia, page 949 h/h 275: Wilson Malcomb, 39, 2000/6000, Ga (all Ga) Martha 40 Ganaway 19 Thomas 17 John 15 Sarah 13 Nancy 10 Susan 8 Teat 6 Barnett 1 Rebecca 70 (mother of Wilson)

Note:   Rebecca3 Hawk* (William*2, Andrew*1) was born in Richmond County, Georgia August 15, 1787.(45) LDS IGI records list two different birthplaces, Lincoln Co and Morgan Co. Lincoln County created 1796. Mo
