a. Note:   My Dad and my best friend. After his mother died in 1933 he wassent to live with Aunt Selma and Uncle Andrew, then to severalfarms in Medina County and Bath, Ohio. After leaving school hewent to work for Otto and Amanda Larson on Beach Road in SharonCenter, Ohio. After the war he returned to live in Akron, at theYMCA on Bowery St. He met my Mom through his sister in 1946.They were married in 1949 and lived in Cuyahoga Falls theremainder of his life. Dad entered the U. S. Navy on 17 Nov1943. He served aboard the USS St. Louis (CL-49), a lightcruiser, as a 20mm gunner. He was wounded in action 27 Nov 1944in Leyte Gulf, Philippine Islands. He was honorably dischargedon 1 Mar 1946.
