Bonham, Texas -- Nannie Jo Esther (Graham) Wright, 97, passed away on March 12, 2017, at the Pflugerville Care Center in Pflugerville, Texas, where she lived for six weeks after a fall. She was born June 17, 1919, to Madison B. and Sarah A. (McConnell) Graham at home near Hudsonville in Fannin County, Texas.
She graduated from Bonham High School, and completed her B.S. in Education at Texas Christian University, Fort Worth, Texas, in 1952 and her Master of Education at Pan American University, Edinburg, Texas, in 1974.
She began teaching in Bokchito, Oklahoma, in 1940. Following her husband, Roy Thomas Wright, she traveled and taught through many other states: Texas, Minnesota, Colorado, New Jersey, Alaska and back to Texas. Retiring in 1978, she continued teaching at a private Christian school in McAllen, Texas, for another three years. Jo also was quite active at the Rio Valley Church of the Nazarene in McAllen, Texas, serving as a Bible school teacher and board member.
Her love of the Lord, her family and teaching were reflected in all that she did. Ever the teacher, she donated her body to the University of Texas Health Science Center-San Antonio for training and research.
Nannie Jo Esther (Graham) Wright is survived by one brother, Dillard D. Graham of Bonham, TX, and one sister, Lavona E. Slack of Estes Park, CO; three sons: Dr. Roy Thomas (wife, Mary Pat) of Texarkana, TX, James Phillip (wife, Charlotte) of Pflugerville, TX, Dr. William Glenn (wife, Regina) of Woodbridge, VA; grandsons: Sean Michael of Lake Worth, FL, Adam Michael of Woodbridge, VA, James Michael Rolette (wife, Nidia) of Round Rock, TX; granddaughters Erin Michelle Guclu (husband, Taylan) of Alexandria, VA, Wendy Lee Rolette of Rockport, TX, Grace (husband, Chris) Alexander of Texarkana, TX; great-grandchildren: Amber Wright of Acworth, GA, Jacob, Jamie and Noah Rolette of Round Rock, TX, Levi, Christopher and Gabriel Alexander of Texarkana, TX; great-great grandson Carter Reyes of Woodstock, GA; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Glenneth R., James R., and T. Keith, and sister Grace M. Graham.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Northside Church of Christ, 2020 North Center, in Bonham, Texas.
