Funeral services for Mr. Leon Townzen, 61, of Carthage, Texas will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Northside Christian Center with Rev. Aaron Bequette officiating. Burial will follow in the Restland Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Mr. Townzen died May 10, 2014 in Panola County, Texas. Mr. Leon Eugene Townzen was born April 10, 1953 in Whittier, CA to Muriel Eugene and Velma Jo Snell Townzen. He was a graduate of Marshall High School with the class of 1971 and attended Panola Junior College. Leon married Vickie Barlow August 31, 1973 and they celebrated 40 years of marriage. He loved fishing, golfing, his children and grandchildren. He is also preceded in death by his father and step father, Tom Melton. Mr. Townzen is survived by his mother, Velma Jo Melton of Conroe, wife Vickie Townzen of Carthage, children, Brandy Townzen Hobson and husband Trey of Marshall, Amanda Townzen Jenkins and husband Nathan of Rossville, GA, Michael Townzen and wife Juliet of Beckville, grandchildren, Logan and Joshua Hobson, Hanna Jenkins, Jacob Donnaho, Greyson and Scarlet Townzen, siblings, Michael Townzen, Sherry Simmons, Glenda Hicks, Sandy Burns, Deborah Norton, Marion Gauna, Tracy Braswell, Wesley Melton, numerous nieces, nephews other relative and a host of friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Piedra, Shay Wiggins, Michael Townzen, Trey Hobson, Mark Bewley and Dustin Abernathy.
