  Obituaries From The Frankston Citizen August 2004 August 19 Edition Billie Holcomb Strickland JACKSONVILLE — Funeral services for Billie Holcomb Strickland, 77, of Jacksonville, were held Sunday, Aug. 15, at Autry Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dan Middleton officiating. Burial was at Resthaven Memorial Park in Jacksonville. Mrs. Strickland died Wednesday, Aug. 11, in Tyler. She was born March 14, 1927 in Jacksonville. She retired from teaching in 1987 from Jacksonville. She also taught in LaPoynor, Freeport and New Hope. She was the first coach to take a girls team to state. Mrs. Strickland was a member of Cove Spring Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Bruce Strickland in 1990. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kandie and Jon Bruckner of Tyler; a grandson; a sister, Ruby Lee Brown of Grandbury; a twin sister, Bobbie Smith of Jacksonville; a sister-in-law, Margaret Holcomb of Jacksonville; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Johnny Reagan, Dale Cowan, Doyce Bearden, Edward Starling, Tommy Murray and Doyle Buckley. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Class of 1944.
