Note: , at his residence. Born in Marthaville, LA, he was the son of the late Ivy Monroe and Theo Thelma Newman Mitchell. He was a member of Cherokee Church of Christ. Mr. Mitchell proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. For most of his adult life he was a truck driver. He enjoyed bowling, was an avid golfer and enjoyed woodworking. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, and two grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Loretta M. Mitchell of Johnson City; daughters, Terri Carter and husband Frederick of Simsboro, LA; Donna Mills and husband Don of Choudrant, LA; Cynthia Bozeman of Arcadia, LA; Ronda Bunting and husband Brett of Conway, SC; Denise Childress of Arcadia, LA; sons, Aubrey H. Mitchell of Conway, SC; Billy Mitchell and wife Pam of N. Myrtle Beach, SC; Ronnie Mitchell of Bossier City, LA; Gary Mitchell of Richmond, VA; Burney Mitchell of Jetersburg, VA; Roger Bozeman and wife Sheila of Tomball, TX; sister, Ruby Huffstetler of Anacoco, LA; brothers, Ivy Elbert Mitchell of Vinegrove, KY and Delmar Mitchell of Many, LA; 23 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday at 2:00 PM in the Sunrise Chapel of the funeral home with Mr. Ed DeVault and Mr. Dewey Woolbright, ministers officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 2:00 PM prior to the service. Burial will follow in Monte Vista Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be chosen from grandsons and family.
