"Pete" Morse Sr., 67, of 908 Madison, died at 4:20 a.m. Saturday (September 1, 2007) in his home. Born February 7, 1940 in Boyce, Louisiana, Pete was the son of Darrell B. and Helen O. Ball Morse. He married Judy Ann Osborne on January 27, 1964 in Quincy. She survives. Mr. Morse served his country in the U. S. Navy during the Vietnam War from 1960 to 1967. He was a member of the Quincy American Legion Post #37 and the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Chapter #488. Pete's one and only passion was flying airplanes. He especially loved to take his grand babies for airplane rides. The name of his last plane that he flew with Charlie Cowan was called "Little Rebel", but his wife called it his mistress. When Pete became a double amputee, he still was able to fly with the use of special built hand controls in the "Little Rebel". He also loved his three cats Mojo, Dic Dic and Miss Calley and in turn was dearly loved by them. David lived his life with great courage, never complaining when he became disabled, but was always cheerful with a never ending smile on his face. Mr. Morse was first employed as a truck driver for Wilcox Mail in West Memphis, AR and later as a truck driver for Holiday Inns in West Memphis, AR.for over 10 years. He and his wife Judy moved to Quincy in 1982 and in his semi retirement he drove for Diamond Cab Company in Quincy. Surviving is his wife, Judy; two sons, Marty Lee Burner and his wife Pammy Ann and Darrell "T-Bo" Morse and his wife Stephanie both of Quincy; a daughter Belinda Anne Osborne and her friend Deby of Quincy; seven grandchildren, Jesse Osborne of Moline, IL, David Lee Osborne, Dakota Lee Burner, Cheyenne Marie Burner, Bryson Dewayne Morse, Alexandra Gabrielle Morse and Abigail Justine Morse all of Quincy; a brother, Phillip Powell Morse of the state of Louisiana; four sisters, Betty Jo Morse, Sarah Elizabeth Morse, Patricia Ann Morse and Cynthia Denise Guimaraes all of the state of Louisiana; 15 nieces and nephews, Nelda, Missy, Heliena, Dixie, Tim, Seth, Monroe, Tatar, Travis, Scotty, Beth, Sam, Terri, John Paul and Brittany all of the state of Louisiana. Mr. Morse was preceded in death by his parents; a son David Lee "China Dave" Morse Jr.; a grandson Nathan Leroy Morse; and a sister Gloria Sue Cleveland. Graveside services with Military Honors by Quincy American Legion Post #37 will be held Tuesday afternoon at 1:00 in Greenmount Cemetery with Larry Graves officiating. Visitation will be Monday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 at theZehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the David L. Morse Memorial Fund.
