Note: e held Dec 29 at Bear Creek Cemetery in Bertram with Rev. Pat Brown officiating and under the direction of Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home of Burnet.
She was born in Kinder, LA, later moving to Beaumont, TX where she met and married Giles Monroe Huggins of Bertram. She was bookkeeper for the City of Bertram Water Department for many years. She was president of the League of Women Voters. She loved flower arranging and cooking for large family gatherings. She and Mr. Huggins were in the restaurant business ever since they married and owned the Tower Lodge and Restaurant in Burnet for many years.
Survivors include her daughter, Charlotte Smith of Round Rock; sister, Gladys Newberry Sloan of Corpus Christi; a brother in Louisiana; and many nieces and nephews.
