Note: e held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Hixson Funeral Home chapel in Pineville. Burial was in Pollock Cemetery. Mr. Atkins died at 6:30 a.m. Saturday in the Baptist Hospital in Alexandria. Born in Jena, he grew up in Lake Charles and spent most of his adult life here. He had moved from Lake Charles to Pollock about five years ago. He was employed by the Carroll Maxwell Lumber Co. Survivors are one son, Jerry Atkins of Welsh; and one daughter, Mrs. Bonnie Miller of Welsh; one brother, Herbert Atkins of Vidor, Tex.; six sisters, Mrs. Kenneth (Sybil) Carlton and Mrs. David Hebert, both of Lake Charles, Mrs. John Connolly of Vidor, Tex., Mrs. Pauline Lockie of Pollock and Mrs. Martha White of Kuntz, Tex; and four grandsons.
