Note: he was born to Heavy and Bernice Ward Nov. 30, 1942, in Andrews, Texas. Pat lived in West Odessa since 1960. She worked at L&W Grocery, which became Kent Post Office, then later worked at Dunlap's Post Office. The last two years, she was Carol's right hand at the Bridal Store. Pat loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She never missed a family member's birthday. Everyone was family to her, she was never Pat, but always Grandma. She loved peach tea, coffee, cokes, candy and Wal-Mart. She loved being among people, never met a stranger, and never failed to proclaim her healing from pancreatic cancer. She never missed the opportunity to give God the glory for her health. She fought a good fight and won the battle. She passed from this life at Hospice House, surrounded by her family. Those survivors include her children, Carol Eakin and husband Chum of Odessa, Tommy Clay and wife Tracie of Forgan, Okla., Hershel Clay and wife Pam of Odessa, and Rogena Pate and husband Floyd of Grand Junction, Colo.; sisters, Jean Barton of Big Spring, Johnnie Anderson of Odessa, and Mary Taylor of Cedar Park; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009, at First United Pentecostal Church, officiated by Pastor Terry Pugh. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.
