Note: rown, Cressie Watley Easley, before May 1982, who gave her the following information and I quote Ms. Jordan: "Mrs. Cressie said she remembered her grandmother, Susan, saying that Hugh (James) Brown was an extra good singer and that he was Irish. Samuel was in Yankee Prison. When he returned from war, his wife was making clothes to marry someone else. Rachel never married. Mimy was Jemima. When Cressie was small, on Christmas family went to Jap Brown's. Also there was a brother of Hugh who was over 100 years old. He danced on the long front porch. Hugh lived to be 93 or 94. His wife died within one year of him. She also said Mary's maiden name was Lemoyne (not Lemmons); she stated that Mary's father was French and that he married an Indian girl."
An article about Henry Jackson and Nancy Bell in what apparently is a history of Bienville families reports the following regarding Mary Lemoyne Brown (1805-1895 ca): "...Mary was born in Ohio. Family tradition says that Mary was of French and Indian ancestry..."

In the late 1970's I interviewed a 90 year old lady who said James Hugh Brown and Mary (Lemonye or Lemon)Brown were buried at Ebenezer Cemetery (Between Liberty Hill and Bienville) in Bienville Parish in unmarked graves. Does anyone have a Bible record or other evidence that they were buried there?

James [Jim] Hugh Brown was born in 1796 in MD and died 1896 in the winter at the age of 100 [according to the youngest of his children's line:. [ Robert Brown of Lake Jackson, Tx.] No one was watching Mary when Jim was dying and she wandered outside in the snow , fell and died later. They were buried the same day at Ebenezer Cem in an unmarked grave. Hugh b. 1843 in Claiborne parish[Bienville Parish in 1848] died young of malaria . Probably buried at same cemetery as this was close to the homestead.
