Note: SPENCE A. LEAMONS Biography Spence A. Leamons was born in 1927 in Sparkman, Arkansas, where he lived until he graduated from high school in 1945. Upon graduation he served in the U.S. Navy. After being discharged from the Navy, he enrolled in Henderson State Teachers College. Serving as President of his Senior Class, Mr. Leamons enrolled in the University of Arkansas Law School where he obtained his legal education, graduating in 1952. Mr. Leamons then began his legal employment as an attorney for Athletic Mining and Smelting Company. In 1963, Athletic Mining and Smelting Company was purchased by Stephens Production Company, and Mr. Leamons became the company attorney for Stephens Production Company. He advanced to Vice-President, Land and Legal in 1978 and is still employed by Stephens at that capacity.
Mr. Leamons was appointed to the Arkansas Oil and Gas Commission in 1963 and has recently been elected as Chairman of this Commission. He and his wife, Louise, reside in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

He was born August 12, 1927 in Sparkman, AR to Jesse Amos Leamons and Mary Alice (Mann) Leamons. Spence was a Corporate Attorney for Stephens Production and for 26 years he was Chairman of the Arkansas Oil and Gas Commission. He was a graduate of Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, and received his law degree from the University of Arkansas Law School. Spence was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was a member of First United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his brother, Norman Leamons. Spence is survived by his wife, Louise; two daughters, Charlotte White and Pam Brooks both of Fort Smith; two grandchildren, Jess and Adam Shaffer and six great-grandchildren. Memorial service will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 16, 2015 in Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Services and cremation are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
