Per J. C. Holder Confederate Pension application filed in Brown County, Texas, in 1911 he moved to Texas in 1855 and had been in Brown County for 10 years. In Dec 13, 1913 reapplied from Dike, Hopkins County, Texas.

Probably placed on the wrong grave because the John Holder of Harrison County was not the John C. Holder of Lamar County (the Holder of Harrison County in the 1900 cenus shows to have been married to Cornelius with children prior to 1880 when our John was married to Martha J as listed below.
