 Services for Grace K. Thompson will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 2, at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Paul Duerksen officiating. Burial will be at Woodbine Cemetery. Thompson, 89, of 901 Catalina Drive, passed away Feb. 27 at Artesia General Hospital. Pallbearers will be Floyd Economides, J. B. Craft, David Matlock, Bill Gray and Jimmy Boyse. Thompson was born Aug. 3, 1912, in Mullin, Texas, to John King and Maggie (Tucker) King. She married Ernest C. Thompson on Nov. 16, 1942, in Brownwood, Texas. She came to Loco Hills in 1942 and came to Artesia in 1945. She was a retired registered nurse with Dr. R. W. Harper for many years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, past president of Altrusa and was a member of the Artesia General Hospital Auxiliary. Survivors include husband Ernest Thompson of the home; one son, Robert Thompson and wife Pam of Encinito, Calif.; one brother, John King of Brenham, Texas; one sister, Louise Erickson and husband Bill of Sandia, Texas; two grandchildren, Robert Thompson Jr. of Encinito, Calif., and Michelle Campbell and husband Josh of Encinito, Calif.; and one great-grandson, Conner Campbell of Encinito, Calif. She was preceded in death by her parents and by two brothers and three sisters. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, PO Box 1492, Artesia 88211; Artesia Good Samaritan Center, 1402 Gilchrist, Artesia 88210, or the charity of choice.
