Norrid b. 26 Feb. 1874 d. 16 May 1943" E. D. Norrid Dies At Home Here E. D. (Ed) Norrid, 69, resident of Comanche County for more than 60 years and a citizen of Comanche since 1923, died at his home here Sunday morning at 7:15 o'clock following a ten day illness after he suffered a stroke of paralysis. Funeral services were held at the Comanche Funeral Home Monday afternoon with his pastor, Rev. E. G. Gregory, Jr., minister of the First Baptist Church, officiating, assisted by Dr. C. C. Klingman of the Central Christian Church and Rev. T. N. Carter, Moderator of the Comanche Baptist Association. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery. Pall bearers were Luther Dixon, Jesse Smith, Tom Foster, Walter Foster, Frank Howington and E. E. Anthony. Special music was rendered by a quartet composed of Marion Wilkerson, Charles Clark, Dr. C. C. Klingman and Mrs. Lillian Hafford. Edward David Norrid was born in Coryell County February 28, 1874, being the son of the late J. A. Norrid and Frances Elizabeth McDonald Norrid. Soon after his birth his parents moved to Mills County, coming to Comanche County when he was about six years old. Here he grew to manhood and on June 19, 1907 was married to Miss Azalee Roe who survives him. To them were born twins, Johnnie and Connie. Johnnie who is married lives in Comanche; and Connie who is now Mrs. Joe Bukoviny lives in Uvalde. Mr Norrid is also survived by two grandchildren, by a brother-in-law, Jim Roe, who made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Norrid; two brothers, John Norrid of Comanche and Sam Norrid of Amarillo; and two sisters, Mrs. Laura Durham of Dallas and Mrs. Martha Lemons of Austin. For many years Mr. Norrid was a prosperous farmer of the Mercers Gap and Harmony community and throughout his life was known as a hard worker. During the last few years in his spare time he sold subscriptions to The Chief. Mr. Norrid was converted when a child and united with the Baptist Church, being a member of First Baptist Church of Comanche at the time of his death. Out-of-town people who were in Comanche for the funeral included Mrs. & Mrs. Joe Bukoviny of Uvalde, Mrs. Laura Durham of Dallas, Mr. & Mrs. Arthur Lemons of Dallas, Mr. & Mrs. Bill Roe of Seymour and Mrs. John Kerbow of Brownwood.
