Norrid, Retired Produce Dealer Dies John Willis Norrid, produce dealer in Comanche for more than 30 years, died Tuesday night at 9:25 at his home, 507 E. Wallcott, after an illness of several months. Mr. Norrid retired from his poultry and egg business here last May 20, and about a month later entered the hospital on June 24 and never recovered his health. Funeral services for Mr Norrid were held at the First Baptist Church in Comanche at 3:00 pm Wednesday with Rev. Henry M. Chambers, pastor, officiating. Interment was in Oakwood Cemetery. Pallbearers were Tom Beene, Sam Lewis, Clyde House, Elmer Cottrell, Lloyd Hitt and Floyd Jones. Mr. Norrid, a native of Comanche County, was born July 6, 1879. He was the son of the late John A. Norrid and Frances Elizabeth McDonald Norrid. In 1904 at the age of 25, Mr. Norrid married Miss Vena Roe. To them a daughter, Isla, was born. She is now Mrs. W. W. Corley of Rochelle, a teacher in the public schools there. A son, Norman, died at the age of __ in 1913. Two other children died in infancy. Mrs. Norrid passed away in 1911 and Mr. Norrid lived a widower for 26 years before he was married on March 8, 193_ to Mrs. Mollie Frazier Turner, who survives. When 24 years of age Mr. Norrid was converted and united with the Baptist Church of which he remained a member until his death. Mr. Norrid was a successful businessman and was generally regarded as one of the best men of Comanche. Before entering the produce business, Mr. Norrid farmed for a number of years and for six years was superintendent of the laundry at Buckner Orphan Home in Dallas.
