Note: BLM Louisiana land patents: PAGE JOHN G 1886 Bienville/RedRiver 79.0500 Note: According to a descendant, John Green Page, moved with his family from Alabama to north Louisiana when he was a boy. He remembered the trip took about six months in wagons pulled by oxen. Rainy weather slowed their progress as the wagons often got stuck in the mud. The men would cut saplings and stick under the wheels. Sometime they would hitch several of the oxen to one wagon to get a stuck wagon free. The family arrived at their destination in Louisiana only three weeks before the birth of their fourth child, William Randolph Page (b. 14 Feb 1860) This trip was made with several other families including Rigdons, Smiths, and Sullivans. John was about five or six years old at the time his family moved from Alabama to Louisiana in 1859-60. (Per Bobby Page Rootsweb site.)
