Note: The Greenbay News Chronicle, Oct 11, 2007 Gene T. Nelson, 82, formerly of 744 Wisconsin Ave., North Fond du Lac, and a resident of the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home since March of 2007, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2007, at the home. She was born on July 19, 1925, in Hooston, La., the daughter of John and Beulah Thomas Tyson. On Jan. 16, 1943, she married Joseph A. Nelson Sr. at Barksdale Field, La. Joseph preceded her in death on Oct. 20, 2002. After graduating from high school Gene attended beauty college for two years. She was employed as a guard with the Women's Correctional Institution, Taycheedah, at Krambo Meat Packaging, was a waitress at Petrie's Restaurant and she was part owner of the Village Beverage Mart, North Fond du Lac. She was a member of Presentation Catholic Church, North Fond du Lac. She enjoyed reading, fishing, old movies, dancing and music, and she loved being with her family. She is survived by six children, Mary (Nelson) Kulow of Fond du Lac, Elizabeth (John) Kulow of North Fond du Lac, Phyllis (fianc? Jack Bartley) Mattson of Greenfield, Wis., Sharon Nelson of Fond du Lac, Joseph (Sue) Nelson, Jr. of Fond du Lac and Ann Marie (Walt) Sinisi of Fond du Lac; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Gene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; five sisters; and two brothers. Visitation: Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 12, 2007, at Presentation Catholic Church, North Fond du Lac. Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 12, 2007, at Presentation Catholic Church, North Fond du Lac, with the Rev. John Simon officiating. Burial will follow at St. Charles Cemetery, town of Taycheedah. Memorials are appreciated to Alzheimer's Research. Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
