Note: vices to celebrate Monty’s life will be at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline. Visitation will be Tuesday 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL where the Moline American Legion Post #246 will conduct military rites. Memorials may be made in Monty’s name to Wounded Warriors.
Monty was born September 27, 1959, in Wiesbaden, Germany, the son of Darvin & Helga Bach Hayes. He married the love of his life, Angie Plough, May 2, 1981, in Orlando, FL. Monty was a retired Army officer and held the rank of Major. He stayed busy working from home as a managing consultant for Grant Thornton. Monty was very active and enjoyed running, bike riding, and traveling with his family. He was a cat enthusiast and had his special pets Chippy and Dale.
Survivors include his wife Angie, daughter, Rebecca Hayes, St. Louis, MO, son, William Hayes, Moline, and special cousin Alfred Schneider. He was preceded in death by his father, and a sister, Chrissy Hayes.
