Note: 9 is the correct age and indicates he joined the service from Bienville Parish, Louisiana. In the Bowie County 1900 census, a Robert Lemons is found who married Sophronia from Arkansas in 1888. Sophronia is the same age as the Katie Rickman that was married by R. C. Leamons in Sebastian County, Arkansas in 1888. Robert and Sophronia's daughter, Sarah Catherine lists Katie Rick as her mother on her death certificate. Robert and Sophronia having a daughter named Sedonia, is suggestive as Robert's sister shared that name. Lemons, Robert, Pvt. Co. H, 7th La. Inf. A Robert Camel Leamons who lived in the Union County, Arkansas and Caddo and Bossier Parishes, Louisiana was born in 1877. On various records he indicated his parents were from Montana. He alternately listed Montana and Arkansas as his place of birth. The Camell family were neighbors of the Leamons family during their early years in Claiborne Parish, Louisiana. Additionally, Robert Camel Leamons spelled his last name "Leamons" on his WWI Draft Card and it is also spelled that way on his tombstone and by his descendants. So, it is possible this Robert Camel Leamons is the son of Robert C. Leamons (Isaac and Lucintha's son). The Robert Lemon I found in Montana on the reservation claimed different birth years in different reports, but in some reports his birth year matched our Robert's birth year. It is a tenuous connection and may prove incorrect, but it is my best guess for now. MWL Update: With what appears to be the discovery of our Robert in Bowie County, Texas in 1900, the connection of Robert C. Leamons to the Robert Lemons in Montana seems less likely.
