After high school, at age eighteen, Peggy moved to Nacogdoches to attend Stephen F. Austin State University. She was awarded her Masters degree in Elementary Education in 1992. She met Harlon Drewery, while walking in the Stephen F. Austin State University grounds. After a year of courtship they were married in September of 1968 in San Augustine, Texas. After college, Peggy, went on to pursue her teaching career at Hudson ISD. Peggy also taught a course every Friday at Angelina College, Activity Directors Course. Peggy took on another career as a social worker. She was a very loving person and she never met a stranger, which made her career very enjoyable. She began her social work service career at Pine Crest Nursing Home in Nacogdoches, Texas. Peggy worked at Pine Crest Nursing Home for many years until she began working as a social worker at Rock Haven Nursing Home, which her family owns. Peggy enjoyed working and helping out many nursing homes in the East Texas area. She was a very hard worker; an overachiever. After retiring she took on two part time jobs which she was to start on Monday. In her leisure time after retirement, she found great pleasure in traveling and vacationing with her family, shopping, and going to the movies. Peggy was a loving wife, mother and a wonderful “Mamaw” to her very special grandchildren. Her greatest pleasure was being with her family especially her wonderful grandchildren and her one great grandchild.
