a. Note:   Jessie and Cassie Jordan Posted 15 Oct 2008 by Joshua Jordan
Jessie Earnest Jordan was born October 5, 1895, in a log house that was the first home of his parents, Charlie and Molly Cummings Jordan. At birth he weighed 2.5 pounds, his head would fit in a teacup, and he was carried in a shoebox. As an adult he was only five feet, five inches tall and was known by his nephews and nieces as Uncle Boy. When he was a small child the family moved to a new house where Jesse lived the rest of his life. At the age of seventeen, Jesse had to take over the responsibilties of the farm when his father became ill.
Jessie never owned a car and never believed in going sight-seeing. He said, "Once you have seen it, what have you done?" Unless it was absolutely necessary he didn't go anywhere that he couldn't walk, ride a horse or drive a wagon. He hardly ever carried a gun while walking through the woods after he accidently shot himself in the foot. He carried a big stick and once killed a coyote or a wolf which attacked and almost killed his cur dog.
When he was thirty years old, Jessie married Cassie Bell Alexander of the Mt. Olive community on February 28, 1928. Her parents were James Martin Alexander and Minnie Bell. Cassie was born on March 5, 1908 in Bienville Parish and attended school at Mt. Olive. She attended the Church of God and was know to enjoy going places and meeting people. Jessie and Cassie worked hard together for nearly forty years. Jessie died September 11, 1962 and Cassie died December 24, 1977.
Jessie always kept alot of livestock and was known for the jacks and jennys, hogs, and purebred Calahoula Cur dog he had. He raised plenty of vegetables, and had plenty for his family and enough to share with his friends. Friends would stop by on the side of the road where Jessie was plowing and talk for hours. He always had to give them some of whatever he had. If it was near dinner-time they would be welcome to come in and eat because Cassie always had the table full of good food. Because Jessie and Cassie owned the first gasoline-powered washing machine in the community, neighbors often came to do their laundry at the Jordan home.
Cassie and Jessie had been married six years when their oldest son, James Donald was born. James married Margaret Walsworth and they have three children - Medina, Donald, and Danny. Medina is married to James Pruitt and their sons are James, Jr. Clayton, Chad, and Carlos. Donald is married to Cyndi Culpepper and their children are Dustin and Joni. Danny married Angela Marie Sears and had three children - Joshua Caleb, Adam Nicholas, and Kalyn Nichole. Angie and Danny got divorced after ten years of marriage, and Danny is now serving a 20 years sentence in Lee County, Florida State Penitentiary.
Charlie Wesley was the second son of Cassie and Jessie. Charlie was born October 20, 1935 and died January 17, 1999. Charlie married Katie Garlington and had two daughters, Saunda and Karla.
The third son of Jessie and Cassie was Troy, who died when he was 2 1/2 years old
Their youngest son is Ralph who is married to Elizabeth Culpepper. They have two daughters - Londa and Jessica.JESSIE JORDAN 02 Jun 1906 Jun 1981 71483 (Winnfield, Winn, LA <http://resources.rootsweb.com/USA/LA/Winn>) (none specified) 434-88-7280 Louisiana
