Mrs. Springfield died September 1, in the Groesbeck Hospital, where she had been critically ill some three weeks.
She was born on February 14, 1901 in Walter County. She was the daughter of Isaac J. Leamons and Mamie Pauline Hardy (Paper said Harding) Leamons. She moved to Kosse along with her family as a child and lived the rest of her life there. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Kosse.
She married to Clark Springfield November 29, 1922. They owned and operated Springfield Grocery in Kosse for a number of years prior to retiring in 1978. He preceded her in death June 10, 1978. They were the parents of three children who survive them.
Survivors include one son, Henry Clark Springfield Jr. of Bryan; two daughters, Jean Humphres and Martha Harper, both of Kosse. She is also survived by one sister, Sue Walker of Mexico: 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Burial was in the Kosse City Cemetery. (from Sheila Johnson notes)
