Note: e Joe (accidentally electrocuted on job in 1972), Ricky Oral and Teresa Ola. Odeal married Reece Smith after Alton died of a brain hemorrhage in January 1966. She had Alzheimer's disease and lives in a West Monroe nursing home as of 2007.

OLA ODEAL SMITH Kilpatrick Funeral Homes West Monroe, LA. Odeal Smith, of West Monroe, and a former resident of Jonesboro, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 27, 2010. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, March 1, 2010, at Liberty Grove Church of God, 504 Marion Sims Road, West Monroe, LA. Rev. Ray Jones and Rev. Steve Nelson will be officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Quitman, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Homes of West Monroe. Sister Odeal was born in Quitman, Louisiana on January 28, 1922, to the late Clarence & Maude Bridges. She was married to the late Rev. Alton Smith, who preceded her in death on January 4, 1967, after 28 years of marriage. Sis. Odeal & Bro Alton spent their entire marriage in ministry together. They pastored many churches in this area: including Dean Chapel Church of God; Welcome Home Church of God; Liberty Grove Church of God; First Church of God, Jonesboro; Winnfield Church of God; and First Church of God, Bossier City. Sis. Odeal served in many areas in the church: pianist, music director, youth leader and Sunday school teacher. She even preached on occasions when Bro. Alton was sick. She loved the Lord and His service. She also loved and enjoyed being with the family. Sis. Odeal was preceded in death by one son, Freddy Joe Smith on February 23, 1972. She is survived by one daughter, Teresa Gordon and husband, Johnny Gordon, of West Monroe; two sons, Eddy Smith and wife, Juanell of Bastrop, LA and Rickey Smith and wife, Debbie of West Monroe, LA; one brother, Purvis Bridges and wife, Dorothy of West Monroe, LA; and one sister Jeanette Tharpe of West Monroe, LA; eleven grandchildren: Kay Middlebrooks and husband Terry, of Bastrop, LA, Ray Smith of Bastrop, LA, Darlene Smith of Bastrop, LA, Ralinda Courson of Farmerville, LA, Joe Ann Smith of Rayville, LA, , Freddy Joe Smith, Jr. and wife, Gwen of Texarkana, AR, Brad Smith and Glinda Sanderson of Calhoun, LA, Brandon Smith and wife, Hannah and Shane Smith and wife, Brandi, Angela Caldwell and husband, Ran of Sterlington, LA and Katina Brown and husband, Josh all of West Monroe, LA, and Justin Gordon and wife-to-be, Courtney Temple; as well as 12 great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren and a host of family members, nieces and nephews and close family friends. Active pallbearers will be Chris Middlebrooks, Craig Middlebrooks, Sam Smith, Eric Smith, Jonathan Smith and Anthony Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Ryan Chance and Stephen Middlebrooks.
