Note: WILLIAM GORDON ECHOLS William Gordon Echols, 60, died in his home on Sunday, March 25, 2007. He was born October 10, 1946 in Ajo, Arizona. Gordon retired a brakeman from Southern and Union Pacific Railroads after 40 years. He graduated from Yuma High School and attended Arizona Western College. Gordon was a member of Yuma First Assembly of God. He was an avid fisherman, and enjoyed softball. Surviving Gordon are his wife, Judy Ann (Leamons) Echols of Yuma; and children, David Michael (Viky) Echols, Sr. of Yuma; and John Calvin (Veronica) Echols of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren, Abdel Echols, Cielo and David Echols, Jr. of Yuma and Luah Echols of San Antonio; mother, Ethel Louise (Sharp) Echols, of Yuma; and siblings, Mary (Tim) Hanchette, and Bill (Mari) Echols, all of Yuma; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, William Hobart Echols. A viewing will be held at Yuma First Assembly of God, Saturday, March 31, 2007 at 10 a.m. Services will follow at 11 a.m. Pastor Paul Killingsworth will officiate. Pallbearers will be David Echols, John Echols, Bill Echols, Dennis Stalnaker, Tom Cook, Richard Setterbo, Herb Brown, Shawn Hill, and Steve Smith. Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Hanchette, Chris Corbett, Tom Rush, and Jerry Collins. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Yuma First Assembly of God Building Fund or the American Cancer Society.
