a. Note:   h Elizabeth Hamilton. He was born 1825 in SC. Alexander Hardin was born 1825 in SC. Alexander enlisted in the Confederate Army during The War Between The States. Alexander was in Crawford's 1st/10th Arkansas Cavalry as follows: private, enlisted in Co. "I", 10th Arkansas Cavalry, in Union Co., AR, 5 Dec 1863; present for muster roll, 29 Feb 1864. Alexander Hardin was killed-in-action on either Sept. 26, 1864 ‡ or sometime by end of the war in 1865. Some of Alexander’s brothers-in-arms returned Alexander's horse to his wife and family. [‡ If the Sept. 26, 1864 date for Alexander's death is correct, then Alexander was perhaps killed while his Cavalry unit {Crawford's 1st/10th Arkansas Cav.} accompanied General Sterling Price on his raid through Missouri in September and October of 1864].
